COMPOSITIONS

Dear students,

Since time flies and there is so much to do, we must try to work as much as we can. I'm going to release the writing tasks for units 3 and 4 so that each of you can feel free to carry them out as soon as you feel you are ready. I'm not going to set any deadline for the writings. In fact, you can hand me as many compositions during the course as you wish; the only condition is that you deliver them handwritten. I forward you lots of energy and enthusiasm too! :)

UNIT 3: PROPOSAL

Watch the first ten TV adverts in the playlist above, then write a report for an international research company about the different kinds of TV adverts you can find. You should at least include:
  • some of the positive and negative aspects of each type of TV advertising you have come across.
  • say how effective these TV adverts are.
  • suggest one or two changes which could be introduced to counter the negative aspects.

How to write a report
You will find samples of reports on pages 34 and 201 in Ready for CAE.

UNIT 4: CHARACTER REFERENCE LETTER

One of your classmates sees this advert on the British Council website ( www.britishcouncil.org/languageassistants-fla.htm):

Have you ever wanted to teach abroad and improve your English? Can you think of classroom activities that would help students in the UK to improve their language skills? If so, the Foreign Language Assistants programme might be for you.
Your role will be to work with the teacher in the classroom or on your own with small groups of students in order to help them gain confidence in your language. It is also a good chance for them to learn more about the culture in your country.
If you are a language assistant wishing to teach Spanish in the UK, you must apply to the office in your home country:

Ms Conchita Hernandez
Ministerio de Educación
Subdireccion General de Cooperacion Internacional
Paseo del Prado 28-2
28014 Madrid
Spain

You will need to send the application form and at least one character reference letter.

YOUR TASK:

Your classmate asks you to write the character reference letter for him. Use 230-260 words.
